Easy Service Marketplace Why this website ?

Easy Homogenious Systemcopy for ABAP Only Systems of SAP on System I

SAPinst supports homogenious systemcopies, but there are far simpler & faster methods possible than that in ABAP Only Environments.

There are at least 3 methods doing this:

  • SAPinst with R3load (pretty slow)
  • SAPinst with savlib/rstlib (recommended if SAPinst should be used)
  • Just savlib & rstlib with "well-known" knowledge as described on this site
(Please do keep in mind, that SAPinst is really necessary in case you need to copy a Java or Abap & Java SAP System !!!!
Then it would be the easiest, to use option 2 - option 1 works as well, but is typically slower)

If you are "just" interested in a reliable and fast solution to your problem, have a look at the following PDF:

Easy Homogenious Systemcopy for ABAP Only Systems provided by consolut

(This PDF was "millions" of times used successful and is really fast - especially when errors occur, you can fix them where they are and do not need to cope with other errors of the SAPinst tool ;-)) )

SAPinst Method for all SAP Systemtypes:

If you prefer the SAPinst Method or you need to copy systems with Java, you should stick to the following rules:

  • Organize the latest Master Installation CD for your SAP Release on the SAP Service Marketplace (for most 7.0 based products this is currently the CD "BS2005 SR3 Installation Master for platform xxx" - 51033511)
  • Update the CD BEFORE you start with the corresponding ISERPACKx as described in note 707805 (for 7.0 it is ISERPACK8)
  • Get a backup of R3SIDDATA for ABAP Only and of R3SIDDATA & SAPSIDDB for a doublestack system
  • For a double Stack System, you need to export the SDM on the Source site as well with SAPinst
  • For all Systems you have to do the Systemcopy on the Target site now and enter all needed information
  • Keep in mind, that nearly all the post-steps, described in the PDF are still necessary as they are not done by SAPinst. In Java systems you need to have a detailed look into the Java config as most of the hostnames and portnumbers are not changed by SAPinst automatically
