New & faster IBM Technology for Java (IT4J, J9) Java Engine certified for SAP on V6R1 !

SAP can now use both IBM Java engines, where the new J9 engine makes sense as it is a lot faster than the older one.

This was a lot of effort from IBM & SAP, but now pays off, as every customer can now utilize the new "IBM Technology for Java" (IT4J, or old internal name: J9) Java Engine for the Java Part of SAP.

In order to get a "smooth transition", SAP & IBM provide the CONFIGJVM Tool in order turn on the J9 ( or turn back on the Classic JVM ). Further information on the CONFIGJVM Tool you can find in the following note:

In order to receive the necessary J9 JVM for V6R1 on current hardware, you have to to order PTF SI32444. This then will ship you the license program 5761JV1 product option 13. This CD can then be installed via "GO LICPGM" (not GO PTF!) and then you are fine to go ahead on this road ...
