This is a nice small description, that shows you how to use (on an easy way ?) the telnet.exe of any PC when logging on to iSeries (AS/400). As soon as you use products as Client Access or Personal Communication from IBM or other companies, they are really preferrable and you will not need this description. But sometimes, you just do not have them installed on the PC where you are right now - either because of the licensing or just because you are at a PC, that normally does not use terminal emulation access to your IBM iSeries.
In this case, the following description might be of a lot of help for you, because the function keys work only up to F4 and not higher. If you are using an US keyboard, it will be pretty easy for you with the function keys - Otherwise you either look always into this list or learn the most common ones by hard.
We would say now: Good luck with this new technique! It took us a while but in the meantime we are using this quite often, because you can logon from anywhere you like ...
btw: You can print this list yourself with the command DSPVTMAP (we only made it a bit nicer ...). Then you could change the keys - especially the function keys - to your needs with the CHGVTMAP and reprint the changes with DSPVTMAP.

You can change the VTMAP with CHGVTMAP as well ...
